Just posted to my last.fm page: A new album with 3 tracks called The powerbook project. These are tracks that were recorded in glorious 8-bit quality using a small mic that I had handy – and then messed around with the samples to produce something that I think is interesting, anyway!
“Christmas Laugh” is a collage of sounds from a family Christmas gathering.
“Patrick” was created in the summer of 1994 with sounds from my then 4 month old son. All of the drum sounds came from a single incident of dropping the mic on the table.
“The Meal” is my personal favorite – a synopsis of what happens AFTER you overeat at Christmas dinner. There’s a cool buildup towards the end – all of those sounds were created from the original, which is the very last sound in the piece.
Definitely not anything you’d hear on the radio – but pretty interesting anyway!
