What is this site about?
This site is a place to stash recordings done at First Presbyterian in Macon, GA. I’ve been the pianist/keyboardist there since 2012.
You will find recordings from the Christmas and Easter programs, as well as preludes/offertories and other music recorded during the service. The preludes in particular are all original – either compositions/arrangements or improvisations – and are presented here warts and all. They’ve had a touch of processing, but no note fixing or other editing [I reserve THAT process for the albums!]
TECHNICAL NOTES – for the gearheads out there who might run across this page:
Piano tracks: Some earlier recordings used an iPod Nano with a Blue Mikey microphone. Some middle recordings were done with a Shure Motiv mic. Later recordings are just an iphone or iPad plopped on the piano bench next to me.
Events [Christmas and Easter]: I use a mid-side setup back in the balcony, then post-process using Studio One. I’ll use either a Cascade Fat Head II or a Warm Audio WA-47jr for the sides, and either that Warm audio or a Cascade large format condensor for the mid mic.
