I’m in the midst of a Coursera.org online course being taught by Gary Burton on jazz improv. It’s been humbling, to say the least!
Week 3’s assignment was to do some scale analysis and record a solo over the Chick Corea tune 500 Miles High. As I did before, I recorded 2 versions – one on keyboard vibraphone, the second on piano.
The rhythm section track is provided, and we just improv over them. These were recorded in ONE take, just to get some pressure on and see if I could produce under pressure. Take a listen and let me know how I did!
